Highlands County Sheriff Susan Benton is asking for the community's help to find the daughter, niece and granddaughter of one of a local family.
Natanalie Marie Perez, 19, from Highlands County, was offered a job and a safe place to live in Miami earlier this year, but went missing in June.
Family members believe Natanalie may have become a victim of human trafficking by coercion and deception brought about by a close friend.
She is biracial (Hispanic and Black) and is 5'1" tall, 130 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Relatives and friends of Perez are asking the public to support them in a countdown to her birthday on Oct. 18. According to Maria Mitil, Perez's aunt, "We are doing this as community awareness and an outreach for the victims of Human Trafficking. Please help us bring Natanalie home."
Family and supporters will be present on U.S. 27 for a countdown to Perez's birthday, at which time they plan to have a birthday party for her.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Perez should contact the Miami Police Department at 305-603-6300 or Detective Brian Livesay of the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Special Victim's Unit at 863-402-7357.
Information may also be sent to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678. Anyone with information who wants to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS(8477), contact us on the internet at www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com. Anonymity is guaranteed.
