Sky Metalwala, age 2 is missing. Sky’s mother told police that she left him behind in the car while she and her 4-year-old daughter went for help after she ran out of gas around 9:00 am on Sunday, November 6 ,2011. She went to a gas station and called a friend, but when they returned to the vehicle an hour later, Sky was gone. A Bellevue police spokeswoman said at a press conference Monday that no gas can was found with the car afterward and the car did start briefly when officers tried it. Police have interviewed family and friends and media reports state the last known time that Sky was seen was 2-weeks prior to him going missing. His parents are in a divorce battle and both are being questioned by police and polygraphs given.
Police also shifted their investigation from where the car was found to the mother’s apartment building in Redmond, WA. Police officers were “extremely confident” that the child was no longer in the area around the vehicle, so they were now looking at places where he was before that.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have driven down 112th Ave. NE between State Route 520 and NE 24th St. from 7:00 to 10:00 am on Sunday, November 6 , 2011 even if they do not recall seeing the car belonging to Sky's mother, to please contact Bellevue police at 425-577-5656. If child is seen, either contact authorities or phone 9-1-1.
