#MISSING: Timothy Groenhout, 39 - Grand Rapids, MICHIGAN

Family members of a missing Grand Rapids man organized a search Saturday.
Timothy Groenhout, 39, was last seen walking in the downtown Grand Rapids area on Wednesday, Jan. 21. He was on his way to cash a check at the Mercantile Bank near Scribner Avenue south of Leonard Street NW, but never made it there.
Around 100 search volunteers gathered at Monroe Community Church Saturday morning and then hit the streets on the northwest side near downtown.
Family members say Groenhout liked to be alone sometimes, but never for this long without contacting someone.
"Tim likes his solitude and we all knew that, but Tim every day connected with family and friends. He made connections every day," his stepmother Joan Groenhout said. "This is not like him not to communicate."
Groenhout is described as 6-foot-1 and about 175 pounds. He recently shaved his head and facial hair for an interview. He was last seen wearing black clothing and carrying a black backpack.
Anyone with information regarding Groenhout is asked to call Grand Rapids Police Department at 616.456.3604 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
