URGENT #MISSING: Patrick James Downing, 63 - Newport News, VIRGINIA (has medical needs - needs medication - car and clothing found alone the shoreline of the James River)

Police are searching for a man after finding a vehicle registered to him about 8:10 a.m. today in the 1200 block of Colonial Parkway and clothing along the shoreline of the James River.
The 2001 Volvo is registered to Patrick James Downing, 63, of Newport News. His sister told James City County Police that Downing has medical needs and he stopped taking his medication about two months ago. Police also learned he had contacted a funeral home last week to make arrangements for his funeral, a news release said. The National Park Service said the vehicle was parked in the area after midnight on Monday.
The last time anyone saw Downing was late last week, according to the James City County Police news release.
Crews have searched on foot and by boat in the College Creek and James River area. The search was suspended about 12:30 p.m.
Downing is described as a white man, 5 feet 8, 180 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Police are asking anyone with information about Downing or his whereabouts to call the James City County Police at 757-566-0112.
