Mobile Police confirm to FOX10 News that missing 8-year-old Jamaya Davis has been found.
According to police, Jamaya got in an argument with her mother about problems at school, so she ran away. She went missing at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night, a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was issued at 7:15 p.m., and she was found Friday morning at 12:30 a.m. Her home is in the 1100 block of Anders Drive in West Mobile.
K-9 and S.W.A.T. units were called to assist in the search for Jamaya. According to police, dogs tracked her scent for several miles away from her home.
Police say Jamaya returned home on her own accord Friday morning, showing up on her mother's doorstep alone, and unharmed.
Her father thanked police and members of the community for their concern and search effort.
"Thank you for the Mobile Police Department and everyone that came out and helped, I know what happened to the baby girl Hiawayi, and I just thank god that's not my baby girl," said Jason Davis, Jamaya's father.
