The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help in locating an at-risk Hayward man who has been missing from an assisted living home for more than a week.
Tommy Marshall, 55, was scheduled to leave Gerrylaide Manor, on Medford Avenue in Hayward, at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 11 for a medical appointment in Alameda with a staff member, Sgt. J.D. Nelson said Thursday.
Marshall left the group home before meeting with the staff member who was to accompany him, Nelson said.
Marshall has been diagnosed with mild mental retardation and other medical needs and authorities said he is oxygen dependent.
It was not known where he could be headed and he left without money, a cell phone or credit cards.
Marshall was last seen wearing a black running suit and carrying a reusable grocery bag.
He is described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches, 208 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 510-667-7721.
