Silver alert cancelled located safe; George M. Washington 78 - Fayetteville, North Carolina

A Fayetteville man who was the subject of a Silver Alert issued Thursday morning has been found.

George M. Washington, 78, was found in Moore County on Thursday, said Lt. Todd Joyce, Fayetteville police spokesman.

Washington was not injured, Joyce said.

A Silver Alert is issued when someone suffering from dementia or another cognitive impairment is missing, according to the N.C. Center for Missing Persons.
