Located safe: Vincent Erazo 48 - Plainfield, New Jersey

PLAINFIELD — A man with autism and diabetes who reportedly walked away from his group home Sunday was found in New York City early this morning, police said.

Plainfield and state police had both sent out alerts Monday asking for the public's help in locating Vincent Erazo, 48, who they said had gone missing before.

Erazo was found after midnight and is currently in a New York hospital in good health, police said.

Police said multiple leads that helped find Erazo were received through the reverse-911 community alert system instituted earlier this year.

In a statement, Mayor Adrian Mapp thanked members of the Plainfield Police Division, Plainfield Fire Division, New Jersey State Police, New Jersey Search and Rescue Squad, and other members of law enforcement and EMS agencies, as well as residents for their support of the Plainfield Mass Communication System.
