The body of Charles Cane, a 21-year-old Hocking College student described as "at-risk" in an Alert Athens County release, was located in Columbus, according to unnamed sources Tuesday night close to Athens County Interim Replacement Sheriff Rodney Smith.
Hocking College posted an update to its Facebook page late Tuesday afternoon confirming Cane's death.
"With a heavy heart, we are sad to report that a member of Charles' family has notified us that he is now deceased," the update said. In an email Tuesday night, Hocking College spokeswoman Laura Alloway declined to comment further.
