URGENT #MISSING: Nena Metoyer, 68 - Fowler, INDIANA (missing after taking care of ailing daughter who has since passed - diabetic - has heart condition)

Fowler police have a mystery on their hands in the case of a missing grandmother, Nena Metoyer, who came to the small Indiana hamlet in August to be with her ailing 49-year-old daughter, Teresa Jarding.
Jarding's children asked police to check in on their mother and grandmother Wednesday evening, but police didn't see anything out of place at the house in the 500 block of East Fifth Street and no one came to the door, Chief Dennis Rice said. At 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the children met police at the house. The ailing mother was seen sitting in the dark in a recliner, so police forced open the door.
Jarding was rushed to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, where she died Thursday. Metoyer still is missing.
Police found a handgun beside Jarding in the recliner, but it had not been fired, Rice said.
"We're not finding any indication of foul play," Rice said, explaining that the house was locked when officers arrived Wednesday and there were no signs of a break-in.
But Metoyer's car was still at her daughter's house. No one has seen or heard from her. She didn't return to Florida.
"We just don't know where she went," Rice said of the mystery that has consumed the police in Benton County since late Wednesday.
Metoyer is diabetic and has a heart condition, so there is some concern for her safety, Rice said.
She's described as white, 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 150 pounds, Rice said. She has blue eyes, brown hair and sometimes wears glasses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Fowler police at the Benton County dispatch center at 765-884-0080.
