Vermont State Troopers said Valarie Bak, 22, of Enfield, Conn., set out on a hike late Friday afternoon and was missing overnight.
Friends of the hiker reported that she had little to no foul weather gear and limited supplies with her as she was only expecting to summit and then immediately return.
Vermont State Police, Waterbury Back Country Rescue, and Stowe Mountain Rescue responded to the trail-head off of Loomis Hill Rd where a primary and secondary team began ascending the Waterbury Trail side. A third team was sent to the Middlesex Trail side to begin a coordinated ascent but while in route to the trail-head, members located Bak walking on the approaching road.
Bak was transported back to the Waterbury trail-head where she was evaluated for exposure by EMS staff and released at the scene.
