Sumter, SC (WLTX) -- A missing Sumter man was found safe Sunday night.
Sumter Police say a fisherman spotted 52-year-old Fredric Matthews Richburg after he was heard yelling around 7:52 p.m. in the swampy area of Sumter County near Lewis Road between Kingsbury Drive and U.S. 15.
Police believe Richburg may have been in the swampy area since Monday.
Firefighters responded and helped remove him from the area. Police, Sumter County deputies and officers with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources also responded.
Richburg had been reported missing Thursday by an acquaintance. Officers say he was last seen Monday leaving his Miller Road apartment. They were concerned he was without his medications.
Richburg is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
