The Walworth County Sheriff's Office has tentatively identified the body found Sunday in the Kettle Moraine State Forest as that of Russ Delorme, 48, of Elkhorn.
Personal items found at the scene led investigators to believe that it is Delorme. However, investigators are still waiting for dental records for positive identification.
Delorme was last seen July 13, and his car was found two days later in the Esterly Road parking lot of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. A friend reported him missing Aug. 1.
At the time, friends and relatives told police that it wasn't unusual for him to grab some gear and head out to the wilderness.
The sheriff's office, along with the Whitewater Area Mounted Search Team and Rescue Unit, the Great Lakes Search and Rescue Team and the Department of Natural Resources conducted eight searches for Delorme.
A hiker found his body off the trail on Sunday and called 911.
