FALMOUTH - The Cape and Islands District Attorney Thursday announced the identity of the human remains found in Beebe Woods in Falmouth Sunday evening. The remains belong to 58-year-old Gerald J. Farley of Falmouth.
In mid-July Falmouth police asked for the public's assistance in locating Farley who had last been seen in town on July 2. Farley, according to police, was known to walk along Main Street and frequent the Falmouth Public Library.
Farley's remains were found off a walking path in the Beebe Woods behind the Highfield Theater by Falmouth residents walking their dog. Police quickly closed the area until the remains could be removed by the state coroner's office.
In a release Monday afternoon, Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe said preliminary findings indicate foul play was not involved.
Falmouth police, State Police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office and the State Medical Examiner's Office are investigating.
