#MISSING: Clarence Ray Olanna, 21 - Brevig Mission, ALASKA

Alaska State Troopers say a five-day land, air and sea search for a Brevig Mission resident missing from the village since Tuesday has found clothing that may be his, but hasn't yet located him.

According to a Sunday AST dispatch, the local village public safety officer informed Nome troopers at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday that 21-year-old Clarence Ray Olanna had been reported missing.

"(Olanna) was last seen by family at about (1 a.m.) in Brevig Mission," troopers wrote. "The next day, clothes matching what Olanna was last seen wearing were found on the shore near Brevig Mission."

Troopers say search efforts Thursday involved five boats, two four-wheelers and an Alaska Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter, which assisted both the land and water searches for about two and a half hours.

"On (Saturday), gusty winds prevented boats from searching the waters," troopers wrote. "People searched by ATVs from Brevig Mission point to Lost River point.  The searching continued on (Sunday) without success so far."

In an email to Channel 2, AST spokesperson Beth Ipsen says it doesn't sound like Olanna had announced any travel plans out of Brevig Mission when he left the village. He is not believed to have taken a vehicle.

"We suspect he was on foot because no ATVs or boats are missing," Ipsen wrote.

Ipsen says residents of Shishmaref sent a net to drag waters near the village, although it's not clear whether it's been employed thus far. According to her, the air component of the search has been limited.

"The Guard helicopter was out there on the 17th to fly over areas that the ground searchers aren't able to get to on ATVs such as marshy land," Ipsen wrote. "The Blackhawk has not been utilized since."

Ipsen says troopers are continuing to manage the search.
