A pregnant 17-year-old girl took off from her foster home Tuesday morning with her 11-month-old son in tow, raising concerns from authorities because the infant reportedly has a respiratory condition.
Sheena Austin and her son, Sincere Parker, are both considered endangered missing persons, police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said Wednesday afternoon.
"This girl is 17, pregnant and has no visible means of survival," Chitwood said. "We're concerned about the missing 17-year-old, but our major concern is the 11-month-old boy, who has been diagnosed with some respiratory issue."
According to Chitwood, Austin told her foster mother she was leaving to look for her biological mother.
Austin's foster mother, a resident of the 1100 block of Belfield Avenue in Drexel Hill, contacted police about 6 a.m. Tuesday.
"According to the foster mom, the 17-year-old didn't want to live (with foster parents)," Chitwood said.
Through the ongoing investigation, Chitwood said the teen's biological mother, whom he identified as Sheena Davis, was traced to the 500 block of Willard Street in Philadelphia. Investigators also tracked Lionel Parker, the father of the missing 11-month-old boy, to a group home in the 2200 block of South 71st Street.
Chitwood said the missing mother is likely using public transportation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Upper Darby Police Department at 610-736-7693.
