Police are searching for a 79-year-old Alzeimer's patient who hasn't been seen since Friday morning.
Sandwich police said they're concerned for David Healy because they believe he's on foot and isn't aware of his surroundings.Authorities said late Friday that a man fitting Healy's description was seen at the town's library during the afternoon.
"We've been going door-to-door, talking with residents to see if we could get an idea of the direction of travel," Sandwich Police Chief Doug Wyman said.
It was one of the door knocks that led to word of the possible sighting at the library about 2:30 p.m. Searchers began focusing on the surrounding area and his home on Skinner Street.
Healy's wife said he was home on Skinner Street at 9 a.m. when she ran errands Friday morning. But when she returned shortly after noon he was gone.
Two K-9 units, several Fish and Game officers, and several county and local police officers are involved in the effort.
They're asking for anyone who saw Healy to call authorities at 603-284-7777.
Healy is 5 feet 9 inches tall with gray hair, a gray beard and a slender build. He was last seen wearing gray sweat pants, a gray sweatshirt and possibly a pair of boots.
"Based on ... what was found at his house, we believe that he was not dressed for the weather at all," Wyman said. "He's only lived here two weeks. He's not familiar with the area."
Healy moved to Sandwich from Moultonborough two weeks ago.
