The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public's help locating a mental patient who went missing in the Houma area Friday night.
Elroy Neville, 51-years-old, of Houma, was spotted by drivers walking in the middle of Denley Road just before 6 p.m. on Friday. He was wearing a hospital gown.
Sheriff Jerry Larpenter says deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the Neville.
Then at 7 p.m. a man fitting the same description was spotted near the Ashland North Subdivision walking towards the marsh area at the end of Fallon Drive.
State Police were called in to join the search in a helicopter. Deputies searched into the night but were unable to locate Neville. Larpenter says the search resumed Saturday morning with four-wheelers and K-9 Dogs.
The sheriff’s department has contacted area hospitals to make sure Neville is not in their care.
Deputies were able to contact Neville’s family and found out that Neville suffers with mental illness and often has seizures.
Elroy Neville is described as an African-American male, around six feet tall, weighing 200 pounds.
Anyone with information on Neville’s whereabouts is asked to call the Terrebonne Sherriff’s Office at 985-876-2500.
