A Fairfield mother is reaching out for help after her 15-year-old son has been missing for almost three weeks.
Fredrick Workman was living at a youth facility in Des Moines and his mother, Anna Shields, said her family believes he walked out when he was left alone outside on August 2. Shields said Workman's probation officer told the teen he needed to complete his program before he would be able to come home and that may be what trigged Workman to take off.
A few days after the family was notified he was missing, they received a tip that Workman might be in the Newton area, but they were not able to locate him. They've posted fliers with his information and description in Des Moines, Newton and Fairfield.
Since then, Shields said she and her family have been sick with worry and just want to get Freddy home.
"It's stressful," she said. "He's a quiet type. My main reason why I'm trying to find him, to locate him, is because he needs medications. He's ADHD/ODD and I just want to get him back on his meds and make sure he's safe."
Freddy is about 5'7" tall with short blonde hair and blue eyes. He also has a small scar on the bottom of his chin. Shields said she has no idea where he could be at this point and asks people state-wide to look out for him.
If you see Freddy, call your local law enforcement office at (641) 472-4146 .
