Circumstance: Dana was last seen by her roommates on Freeman Street in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn where she lives. Her mother, Donna O’Connor of Patterson, Putnam County, said the text she received from her only child at 11:10 pm that night which wrote “I’m scared.” She has never been seen since. Family and friends say she would never go missing on her own choice. Her mother received a panicked phone call and text just before she disappeared. According to her mom, she phoned her a little before 10pm on July 22, 2013 in a very excited voice and her mom couldn’t understand what she was saying and told her to calm down. She called her mom back in 10 minutes, a little calmer, and said that she wanted an attorney that she was being stalked by one of her roommates. Her mom told her that she didn’t need an attorney, instead she told her to call 911 or call the police department. Dana told her mom “okay, I’ll call now.” When her mom did not hear back she texted, ‘Did you call?’ At 11:10 she texted back, ‘I’m scared.’ Her mom texted ‘What are you scared of?’ She texted back only three dots (which is customary for the iPhone to do, as opposed to the person, to show someone has either read or is typing a response.) She also sent the same “I’m scared” text to a friend. Her mom called and texted her in the morning and when she didn’t hear from her by 4pm, she called police. The police told her mom that there was nothing they could do since she was 33 yrs old. It was not until the 27th that the police began a missing persons investigation. While Dana may have some history of anxiety, her family does not contribute her missing status as such nor do they believe her roommates caused her any harm. Dana also has a cat named “Love Song” and would never leave her loved cat unattended. Dana did not normally go out on Monday nights, mostly just weekends, according to her friends. She was part of a group called “Supporting Our Underground Properly” which promotes music events throughout the city. Dana was recently laid off from her job as a paralegal back in April, but neither her family nor friends contribute that to her missing status, either. While she was sad that she was not working it was not taking over her life to the point she would up and leave without contacting anyone. They are desperately seeking her and ask for the public’s help.LostNMissing, Inc.
