Warren County authorities have identified human skeletal remains found late last week.

Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess says dental records confirmed the identity of the remains as 31-year-old Shanell Burden Stowers. No cause of death has been determined.

Friday a man excavating property for scrap metal found the remains about 800 feet off Martin Luther Kind Boulevard near Mission 66 in a vacant lot.

Bailess said it was difficult to determine the sex or race of the remains due to the length of time they have been there. Weathered clothing was on the skeleton, but there was no identification.

Stowers had been missing since Oct. 4. The Vicksburg woman was supposed to pick up one of her children for doctor's appointment the next morning. Her car was found Oct. 5 on the side of Old Jackson Road with the key in the ignition.
