DYER, Tenn. - The two-day search for a missing man from Dyersburg ended after officials found him dead in Dyer. Law enforcement officers across West Tennessee have been searching major highways, back roads and parking lots for William Augdon, Jr., 61, since Friday. Police officers said they found Augdon dead inside a storage building at Twin City Barns in Dyer.Police said Augdon disappeared after traveling to north Madison County where he planned to look at some sheds in Three Way. Family members told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that they too have been searching all wooded areas and side street ditches because they knew something was wrong. "He told me, he said, 'Son, your mom's got a pot roast cooking and when I leave here I'm headed to Dyersburg, I'm headed home," said Augdon's son, William Augdon III. "This is very hard to deal with, my dad was the type of person that if he told you something, you better take it to the bank. If he told you that the sky was falling, you don't look, you just get under something. That's the type of person my dad was." Family members said Augdon was known to have high blood pressure and heart problems. Dyer Police said right now Augdon's death does not appear to be suspicious, but they have sent his body to Memphis for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
