URGENT MISSING MAN: Lonnie Watkins, 62 - Gary, ILLINOIS (DIABETIC - released from hospital 2 days before gone missing)

Dt

The family of a Gary man missing since Jan. 9 is asking the public for help in finding him.

Lonnie Watkins, 62, was last seen leaving his mother’s house in the area of Fourth Avenue and Durbin Street that afternoon to go to an empty rental property his sister owns in the 700 block of Burr Street, about six blocks away, his cousin Shirley Robinson said.

The family went looking for him later that night when he didn’t return and found his bicycle at the house and a candle lit inside. He wasn’t there, however, and one of the doors was open.

The family has filed a missing person report with the Gary Police Department and has also checked with police and hospitals in Hammond, East Chicago and Merrillville. His friends have also checked the spots he normally frequents to no avail.

─>Robinson said Watkins, who is diabetic, had just been released from the hospital two days before on Jan. 7 and was still weak.

─>Robinson said that Watkins does not drive. She described him as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red and white jacket, blue jeans and a navy blue skull cap.

Anyone with information on him can may the family at 718-8230.
