385x218

A Fort Bend senior citizen with diagnosed dementia was reported missing after walking away from a group home, authorities said.

Vietnam veteran Alfred Rogers, 68, was last seen at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at the group home in the 7400 block of Soledad in the Mission Bend subdivision.

—>Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office describes him as a 5'6" African American weighing about 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and usually wears reading glasses.

—>He was last seen in a red plaid shirt, green jacket, blue jeans and brown work boots while carrying a small rolling suitcase.

The sheriff's office suspects he might try to return to his original home near the 610 Loop and Cullen, said spokesman Bob Haenel.

—>According to Rogers' family, he is quiet and walks slowly from hip pain during cold weather. He has high blood pressure, but family members do not believe he has his medication with him.

Rogers did not have money or identification with him, relatives said, but he can communicate well and will most likely answer to "Alfred."

Anyone with information should call the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office at (281) 341-4665.
