MISSING WOMAN: Susie Stiltner, 43 - Salisbury, MARYLAND

Bilde

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and family members of a 43-year-old woman continue to search for her after she disappeared about three months ago.

Rachel Stiltner reported her sister, Susie Stiltner, missing in early October after the two lost touch in August. Rachel said her sister also stopped making routine trips to local support organizations around that time.

“She would go to Lower Shore Friends every morning and get coffee and go to HALO every night at 6 p.m. for dinner. She always did those two things,” Rachel Stiltner said. “Since July 31 or the first week of August, no one has seen her ... I don’t think she’s ever gone more than three weeks without talking to her children or her mother.”

Rachel Stiltner said her sister also called her once or twice a week for the past two years; beginning in August the calls stopped and Rachel Stiltner hasn’t seen her sister’s red hair or green eyes since then.

As time passed and Rachel Stiltner began to fear something had happened to Susie Stiltner, she went to the Salisbury Police Department to file a missing person report and ask the police to help her find her sister. Instead, she was reportedly turned away and told she couldn’t file a report because there was an arrest warrant for her sister for allegedly shoplifting and because she was homeless.

Capt. Scott Kolb said he had no way of confirming if Rachel Stiltner attempted to file a missing person report at the Salisbury Police Department. He was also not allowed to answer any specific questions about department policies regarding missing person reports for homeless people or those with arrest warrants for alleged crimes.

Rachel Stiltner said she wasn’t willing to take no for an answer, which is why she drove to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and told one of the deputies what happened. The Sheriff’s Office took her statement and launched an investigation, which is ongoing.

Since it has been more than 30 days since the report was filed with the Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement has not been able to locate Susie Stiltner, the case has been taken over by the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation.

Anyone with information about Susie Stiltner is asked to call 410-548-4891.
