KINGSVILLE - The Kleberg County Sheriff's Department believe they may have found the remains of a Harlingen man reported missing in early August.

Yesterday, someone who had stopped on the northbound side of Highway 77 in Riviera reported a foul smell on the side of the road. Officers checked the area and found a deceased man wearing clothing similar to what 52-year-old David Garcia was last seen wearing.

Authorities say they have notified Garcia's family about the discovery, but a positive identification has not been made at this time. The Nueces County Medical Examiner will be handling the autopsy.

Garcia's family says the mentally disabled man boarded a bus in Harlingen, but never made it to Robstown. Garcia got off the bus when it stopped to fill up for gas in Riviera. A waitress in Riviera told authorities she saw Garcia eating breakfast with another man on August 11th.
