Funeral for man who walked away from ER

TEKONSHA, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Family and friends will say goodbye Monday to a Coldwater man who died after wandering away from a hospital.

They are calling it a celebration of life and services will be held to honor Jesse Holibaugh.

Holibaugh disappeared on August 20th. His dad dropped him off at the Community Health Center of Branch County for high blood pressure because he had double kidney failure, epilepsy and diabetes.

The 25-year-old walked away after being discharged. His body was found three weeks later in a field three miles south of the hospital.

We spoke with his dad after the discovery.

“He doesn't have to be in no pain anymore, and I know right now he's with his mother, and that's where he wants to be,” said Terry Holibaugh.

Services for Jesse Holibaugh are Monday at 1:00 pm at the Union Church of Tekonsha.

Family and friends are being asked to share stories and memories about him during the memorial.

His family is also asking that instead of flowers, donations be made to the American Kidney fund in Jesse's name or to your local animal shelter.
