Konstantin Salikhov, 31, is missing. He completed a doctorate degree from Brown University in Providence, RI in math. An avid hiker, he flew to California to hike in August. Relatives and police say they believe he flew home on Aug. 20, 2011 and called his parents, in Russia, to say he was home and well.
The next day, they believe that he may have driven to Vermont where his car was found near the entrance of the Appalachian Trail on Oct. 20, 2010. Vermont police said his car was found on Mad Tom Notch Road and they believed the car was there for several weeks.
It is believed that he had a pale peach tent, a bacpack and propane stove. He is 5'9" tall, weighs 176 lbs and athletic build.
