[Missing: Jake Nawn, 23 - Plymouth, NEW HAMPSHIRE]
Family and friends remain concerned as a Plymouth State University student disappeared more than a day ago.
Classmates of Jake Nawn, of Holden, Massachusetts, were told that an intensive search, utilizing canines, boats and kayaks, was underway after the 23-year-old student went missing near a river at about 4 p.m. Thursday.
The search continued Friday until it got too dark. The search will resume Saturday.
Nawn's mother reported her son missing about an hour after he was last seen near Foster Street, near the Common Man Inn.
Police released surveillance photos showing Nawn inside the Hannaford Supermarket in Plymouth just before he was dropped off on Foster Street.
Police, Fish and Game, and the New England K-9 Search and Rescue are involved in the search efforts.
Friends of Nawn are worried and are hoping he is found safe.
"He's a staple to our friend group, to the English department, to the college community. He's just really important," friend Brianna Coykendall said. "He can make anyone laugh, and can make a friend out of anybody in just a few minutes, definitely (a) one-of-a kind person."
Nawn is studying English and is a member of the school's Poets and Writers organization.
"We have poetry together right now, and before class we all hang out, read poetry and talk," friend Kelsie Collins said. "He always makes everybody smile. He always makes everybody much happier than they were before."
Nawn was last seen wearing gray pants, green jacket and Vans-style sneakers.
The search will resume Saturday morning at the Plymouth Community Gardens, near where Nawn disappeared.
"We just want him to be home safe, whether that means he keeps going to school or takes time off, he has really great friends who are here for him no matter what," Coykendall said.
Anyone with information about Nawn's whereabouts are asked to call police.
