Police search for a missing mentally-challenged woman around Lowell
Elga Crespo has been missing since Sunday evening.
Lowell police and the family of a missing mentally-challenged woman are asking for the public's help to find her. Elga Crespo, a 67-year old with the cognitive ability of an 8-year-old, went missing Sunday night after she was last seen walking near her home in Lowell, according to police.
Crespo speaks Spanish although she can sometimes be hard to understand police wrote in a post on Facebook.
She is also diabetic and must take medication regularly.
"She's very mobile, she's a very active person and loves walking," her nephew, Alejandro Zayas, told the Lowell Sun . Her mobility makes the search difficult because she can cover a lot of ground. The search has spread across Lowell and into the surrounding towns and even into southern New Hampshire according to the Sun.
She is 5 feet, 2 inches, and weighs about 160 pounds and was last seen wearing a grey sweater and black and white pants.
Police and family are asking anyone with information to call the Lowell Police Department or their local police.
