#MISSING: Daylen “Moke” Pua, 18 - Oahu, HAWAII (last known location was the area of Haiku Stairs)

Daylen "Moke" Pua, 18, was visiting his grandmother in Waianae. She says he was interested in hiking up Stairway to Heaven, a forbidden trail on the windward side of Oahu.
"And I told my grandson that it's closed down. They're not letting anybody climb that mountain. It was on the news. And I told him that," said Martha Bear, Pua's grandmother.
On Friday morning, Pua left his grandmother's home and boarded a bus.
"All he said was he was going hiking. I didn't think he was gonna go there, being that I already told him that place was closed," said Bear.
Honolulu police say Pua texted pictures of himself in the area of the Haiku Stairs at around 11 a.m. He hasn't been seen or heard from since.
On Saturday, Honolulu firefighters were called in to help.
"First crews were here maybe a little after 6:30 or 7 [a.m.]. But the weather was much poorer then. It was actually raining cats and dogs. So they couldn't do much. Waited 'til about maybe 8:30 [a.m.], re-grouped, took the next crew and we've been searching since then," said Capt. Paul Bass of the Honolulu Fire Department. "The whole ridge of the stairs is on we've kind of ruled out. But there is the summit trail that runs the length of the Koolau mountain."
Pua's father recently flew to Oahu. He says his son is an experienced hiker and has never gone missing before.
"I'm doing strong. Thinking he stay up there and he's alright. Hoping they can find him before anything else happen," said Donald Pua, Jr., Pua's father.
Pua is 5'7″ and weighs 150 pounds.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
Firefighters suspended their search Saturday afternoon due to the heavy clouds and poor visibility. They plan to resume their search on Sunday pending weather conditions.
