GOLD ALERT: Keisha Hamilton, 35 - Smyrna, DELAWARE

A Smyrna man discovered in Indiana and detained in relation to an Amber Alert issued in Delaware has arrived in the state after he had waived his extradition hearing, Delaware State Police announced Friday night.

Cortez A. Hamilton was extradited and arraigned on charges of first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony and two counts endangering the welfare of a child.

Delaware State Police continue to investigate Hamilton in connection to the disappearance of Keisha S. Hamilton, 35, whose disappearance first came to light January 10, 2015.

Police issued a Gold Alert for her and an Amber Alert for her two children, 4-year-old Colette Hamilton and 4-month-old Cortez Hamilton, Jr. The children, when found with their father in Indiana, were placed in protective custody of Indiana's Division of Family Services.

Their mother was still missing. Keisha Hamilton is described as a 35-year-old black woman, standing 5'6" and weighing 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Neighbors alerted police to Keisha Hamilton's disappearance, and said she had given them prior warning that if she disappeared, she was likely in danger.

"She said, if you don't hear from me then call the cops," said Tia Small. "She didn't show up, so we called the cops."

Police later announced Cortez Hamilton had been detained and was being questioned by police, but also noted he was wanted in Delaware on fugitive status for the charges he now faces.

Anyone with information about Keisha Hamilton is urged to contact Sgt. David L. Weaver at Troop 3 at 302.741.2728. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333, via the Internet, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword "DSP."
