Located safe; U.S. Marine Cody Hale 19 - Grand Valley, Missouri

Family members said a U.S. Marine from Grain Valley who was last seen Dec. 3 has been found safe.

Cody Hale's mom told KMBC's Kelly Eckerman on Thursday that her son called and said he was in Philadelphia with a friend.

Hale left Camp Pendleton last week to come home to Grain Valley. His parents said he told them he didn't want to return. Randy Hale, Cody's father, said his son was told he would be fighting overseas on the front lines.

Family members said a recruiter dropped him off at Kansas City International Airport on Dec. 3 for flight back to San Diego, but Hale never flew back to California.

Hale's mother expressed thanks to people on Facebook after he contacted them to let them know he was OK.
