Earthly body located; Katherine Kay Reardon 83 - Normal, Illinois

HUDSON — The body of a missing Morton woman was found Sunday morning in a car submerged in a lake in McLean County.

McLean County Coroner Dr. Kathleen Davis said in a news release that her office was notified at 10:05 a.m. of a body found in a submerged car in Evergreen Lake off the west boat launch at Comlara Park in Hudson.

Members of the McLean County Sheriff's Office, the Hudson Fire Department and the Hudson Dive Team were on the scene.

Katherine Reardon, 83, was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m.

Davis said the death didn't appear to be suspicious, and an autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning.

She said she did not how long the car had been in the lake.

The search near Lake Evergreen had been planned, according to Julie Mooberry, a longtime family friend who is serving as the family spokeswoman.

"I think everyone's relieved that she was found," Mooberry said in a phone conversation.

Reardon was last seen at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 23. Driving her car, she left Heritage Health Normal assisted living facility in Normal, where she was visiting her sister.

She did not turn up for work the next morning as a bus monitor for Morton School District 709.

The week-long search involved community members, Bloomington, Normal and Morton police, two private pilots and other searchers using all-terrain vehicles.

"The family wants to thank everyone for searching," Mooberry said.

The incident remains under investigation by the McLean County coroner's and sheriff's offices.
