Earthly body located and identified; Dustin Self 19 - Piedmont, Oklahoma

The Harney County Sheriff's Office says that personal identification helped identify remains found in southeastern Oregon.

On Oct. 7, human remains were found on the north end of Steens Mountain. The remains were discovered to be those of Dustin Rollin Self of Piedmont, OK.
Self, who was 19 at the time he went missing, was traveling from Oklahoma to Ashland to join The Church of the Holy Light of the Queen when his family reported him missing in Oregon.

Self was reported missing in Harney County back in March of 2013 by his family. His family said they received a voicemail from him saying his GPS had guided him to southern Harney County and that he was lost.

A search for Self was unsuccessful around the time he went missing. Freezing temperatures, high winds and deep snow had made it difficult for search crews. On April 15, 2013 his vehicle was found on Stonehouse Road after it had slid off the muddy roadway.

The remains, which were reported by a hunter, were found about 7 miles west of the vehicle.
