UPDATE: Missing man now home safe in McDowell County
A McDowell County man is home safe and sound Saturday morning after being reported missing on Thursday.
Ernie Blankenship's son told McDowell County 911 on Saturday that his father turned up and says he had been camping in the Panther State Forest.
Three fire departments searched the area around Blankenship's home in Gary on Thursday and Friday, until conflicting stories caused them tohaltt their search.
The Gary Police Chief says he is just happy Blankenship is home safe.

Authorities in McDowell County are searching for a man who went missing Thursday night.
ErnieBlankestp, 52, of Thorpe was last seen around 8 p.m. leaving his home on foot.
