Eartly body located and identified; Jose " Anthony" Cortez 35 - Interlachen, Florida

INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- State and local investigators have identified a body found near Interlachen last month as a Putnam County man, and arrests are expected in the man's murder.

On Thursday, the Putnam Coutny Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement identified the remains found Sept. 30 as Jose "Anthony" Cortez, 35, who reportedly disappeared last December.
Investigators have long suspected Cortez was murdered following his abrupt disappearance, deputies said. He was last seen by family near 6th Way in Interlachen Dec. 23, 2013.
His remains were found buried in a remote area near Royal Way, not far from Interlachen, deputies said.
Investigators said Thursday they have persons of interest in Cortez's disappearance and arrests are expected in the case.
