Teresa Lentz, the Frederick woman who vanished June 19, was found alive Tuesday night in Spotsylvania County, Va., according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Lentz was found just before 10 p.m., the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Authorities in Virginia had Lentz in custody Tuesday night. The agency would not release further details about her disappearance.

“Right now, we have investigators who are en route to speak with her and find out what happened,” Sgt. Jennifer Bailey, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said late Tuesday night.

Bailey said further details about the case were not available.

Lentz, 49, left her Bartonsville Road home at about noon June 19 to run errands, according to the sheriff’s office.

Early last week, Teresa Lentz’s husband, John, said he last spoke to her by phone at about 1:30 p.m. June 19. The family became worried later in the afternoon when she did not come home and could not be reached.

Shawna Lentz, Teresa’s daughter, went out looking about 6:30 p.m. She found her mother’s blue Ford Expedition at about 9:45 p.m. parked near railroad tracks along Reel’s Mill Road. Teresa Lentz’s cellphone and keys were still inside the SUV, which was in running order.

Immediately after her disappearance, investigators began interviewing and re-interviewing witnesses and examining bank and phone records. In an effort to find Lentz, her family pleaded for help for the public.

During a news conference Friday, their pleas were broadcast throughout the area.

“We miss you terribly,” Shawna said during the news conference. “We are so overwhelmed with what’s happening. Our friends and family and all of the Frederick community have wrapped their arms around our family. They’re praying for us, and they’re praying for you and your safe return.”

Social media websites expressed the family’s relief.

“Quite frankly, we are all very relieved she is found,” Bailey said.
