CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police located the body of a Lenore woman who had been missing for about a week and charged her boyfriend with murder Saturday night, according to State Police.

Police had been searching Laurel Lake with sonar equipment and found Evelyn Joyce Farnum, 55, in her Jeep Liberty on Saturday night, Sgt. R.L. Frye of the Gilbert detachment said.

Weather conditions permitted police from pulling the body from the lake on Saturday night. Dive teams removed Farnum and her vehicle around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Trooper D.M. Williamson.

Donald Kevin Medley, 45, of Lenore, was arrested Saturday night and charged with first-degree murder, Williamson said. Medley was Farnum's boyfriend and third cousin, according to Williamson.

Police believe Kevin Medley choked Farnum to death at their home on Right Fork of Laurel Creek, put her body in her Jeep, drove it to the lake and pushed it in, said Trooper J.J. Dean, the lead investigator on the case.

Medley was being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on Sunday.

His brother, Gregory Allen Medley, 44, was also arrested and charged with concealment of a body, Williamson said.

Relatives had last seen Farnum on Dec. 30 driving her black 2003 Jeep Liberty. Dean said Farnum's daughter had reported her missing.
